Asta's Acrobatics

My online journal on what makes me tick. My designs, travel, sports, life and love.

An eveyday reminder

Only 3 days late, it finally came in the mail. My wedding anniversary present to Jakob.

This is what we get to wake up to everyday, a reminder of what we love to do together.

PresentThis is what I got from Jakob. Ups almost finished.

For some reason the trampoline is a super source for action pictures of kids. Here is a new one which deserves a place on the wall of fame.Christian Trampoline2

Live – Love – Row

live love rowEvery other Thursday we have our wonderful babysitter come and watch Christian so we get to do couple stuff. Our favorite is definitely going for a row together. I’ve been a bit desperate lately as it has seemed that the riggers for Freja, the boat we row, have been missing. After almost giving up, we found first a seat with the name Freja on it. This meant that the riggers cannot be too far. After a lightning fast rigging job, after all the other boats had come off the water, we had the playground all to ourselves.

Perfect start for a date night. This is what it looked like when we got off the water.

Painting walls again…

Ernst rang me that he needed his projector. So I needed to quickly produce the next painting I had in mind.

I grew up with Donald Duck comics, (its the most read weekly magazine in Finland amongst adults and kids.) And living abroad most my childhood, it was how learned and kept up with my Finnish language.

One never gets tired of Donald Duck so I thought as a big fan of the comics, I thought neither will Peter. So I painted this at the foot of his bed. Think I need to develop something for the landscape but that will follow.Anders

Studying Vectors again

In university, vectors looked slightly different. I was looking for some maps today at work and bumped into some vectors that inspired me. I can’t remember where I’ve seen this image of a woman with curly hair.. I’m sure I can learn to love vectors again.Maria Hair

Painting walls…

When dad is not home, I get tempted with all sorts of creative projects. But ask permission to complete them, I’m sometimes afraid I get denied. While Jakob was up in Norway, I managed to complete a long planned project. I borrowed a projector from Ernst, drew the outlines and began painting. The wall is meant to be torn down anyway so how wrong can one go….Shadows on the wallThe painting measures about 1,5 m x 2,5 m. First produced a black and white picture, then projected the image on the wall using a projector. Drew the outlines with a pencil and the painted with a paint pen. (I ran out of paint pen so I had to wait over night so the stores opened.) But it is finished and now I’m not sure I want to tear down the wall anymore.

FB cover page and logo

Rojabo FB cover and pictureOnce in a while I help out with Jakob’s Rojabo. I made a new cover page and cover picture for them for FB. As people do not know what Rojabo is, I think it is important to catch their attention with some cool images. This way potential users can at least know its something related to rowing. The logo was just a revamp of the original. The challenge was to fit it into a square and make it a bit more dynamic. The cover picture is edited from a picture of a few friends at training camp. Focus on technically correct rowing and dynamic movement.

I take loads of pictures with my iPhone. I like to capture the action moments of everyday life. I also like to play around with images on Photoshop and here is a composition I’m pretty proud of.Maria Trampoline

Pimp my chair

I saw some pictures of some painted chairs and was immediately inspired. Our chairs from IKEA have some good, flat, white surfaces, just perfect for drawing. This is a picture from our summer in Finland. We basically spent all our time on the bridge, jumping into the sea.chair
